Coca Cola Celebrates Women's Month by giving out 40,000 Scholarships for Women Micro-Entrepreneurs

Coca Cola Philippines celebrates Women's Month this year by gathering over 5,000 women micro entrepreneurs in Davao City and its aim is  to treat women retailers to a day full of learning, fun and surprises. The celebration was headed by the Philippine Commission of Women and the event's theme is "We Make Change Work for Women Micro-Retailers." Coca Cola's initiative is to help women achieve business success.



Women micro entrepreneurs from Davao City and Davao del Norte, wives of military and police servicemen attended the event at the USEP Gym, Davao City last March 10, 2017.

The Coca Cola Philippines aim to meet their target of empowering 200,000 Filipino women micro entrepreneurs by year 2020. With the help of Coca Cola 5by20 STAR Program sharing their global commitment to the economic empowerment of women.

Targeting 40,000 women this year, Coca Cola Philippines launched the Star Program in 2011. To date, it has impacted the lives of over 80,000 women natonwide. In partnership with TESDA, the STAR Program is designed for women icro entrepreneurs who won and manage sari sari stores and carinderias. The STAR program has three components: access to training, access to resources, and peer mentoring.

The STAR Program has 390 accredited facilitators teaching and training women retailers to become better entrepreneurs and is being implemented in over 47 locations nationwide.
